Third Class Carol Service
In November all the children in Third Class began preparing for our carol service. Teacher taught us lots of new carols and we also learned some of our favourite Christmas songs. We worked very hard learning the words and we had to practise every day in our own class. The week before the carol service we had three rehearsals with all the classes in the hall. It took a while to get us all arranged to the teachers' satisfaction but eventually they were all happy! Terry did a fantastic job decorating the hall with Christmas trees and lots of decorations so that we would all get into the Christmas spirit.
On Tuesday 13th December our parents, grandparents and minders all began to arrive from lunchtime.. At 12. 45pm we took our places wearing our Santa hats and our performance began . We sang Silent Night to start and boys and girls from each class told the story of the Nativity. We recited a lovely poem called "Jesus is Born" and read some prayers of the faithful too. Soon it was time to sing a selection of popular Christmas songs such as "Winter Wonderland". It was great to hear the audience joining in!
The following day we performed the carol service for the fifth and sixth classes and their teachers. Everybody was in agreement that it was a great success and we all really enjoyed ourselves.
Here you can listen to some of the songs from our carol service. We hope you enjoy them.

Homes Around the World
In our geography class we have been learning about homes all over the world.
Click here to see some excellent pictures of many different types of houses.
Did you know that an Eskimo can build an igloo in an hour? You can watch this short clip to see how it's done
.
In Malaysia and the Philippines many people live in stilt houses. Look at the pictures to find out more about them. Would you like to live in one of these?
Because there are so many people living in China many live on house boats. Another name for these are sampans.

Our News
Hi everybody.
By now we are well settled into the senior school. We have been very busy learning a lot of new things. We have got the hang of multiplication and our joined writing is coming on well. We took part in the Credit Union art competition and also designed Christmas cards. Conor and Eoghan both won prizes for their cards and will soon be getting their rewards. Lots of the class trained every day for the school cross-country teams. In the end Hannah represented us very well in Portmarnock. There was great excitement when Sam Maguire came to visit our school and open the astro pitch. We got to use the pitch every week when Vinny came to do Gaelic football skills with us. We will be doing hurling with him after Christmas.
This week we went to our very first cake sale in Ms. Maher's class. It was great fun. At the moment we are preparing for the Christmas Carol service which will be taking place in the hall in two weeks. We enjoy learning all the songs especially "This is the moment". Katie and Adam were chosen to be on the school Green Team and we are learning the "green rap".
Check back soon to catch up on all our news.
